TRANSPLANTED ~ half-hour comedy series located in any international city.

Lovely, the quick-witted but naïve concierge, an unsung hero of every city’s condo scene, is at the centre of the pandemonium of the Shangri-La condominium’s colourful crayon box of residents and irrepressible staff fighting its demolition, along with her personal challenges raising her incorrigible niece Mary J while guided by well-intentioned though not always helpful advice of the phantasm of her deceased sister, the former Shangri-La’s concierge, Destiny (Mary J’s mother), through Lovely’s supernatural connection to Destiny’s donated kidney. (based loosely on a true story)

At its heart, TRANSPLANTED is a comedy about what happens when life uproots us and plants us somewhere we never expected to grow. Through Lovely’s reluctant transformation from accommodating caregiver to fiercely protective ‘mother’, concierge, and community leader, the series explores family—both the one we’re born into and the wonderfully dysfunctional one we create—along with sisterhood, grief, belonging, second chances, and the courage to reinvent ourselves.

The Shangri-La provides an endless engine for comedy as its eccentric residents collide over everyday crises. Every week, the condominium generates a new resident crisis, while the demolition battle, Mary J.’s true parentage, (spoiler: the condo owner’s daughter), Lovely’s evolution, and Destiny’s interference provide the continuing serialized stories.

Destiny’s supernatural presence ensures that Lovely can never face a problem without receiving an opinion she didn’t ask for.

Warm, character-driven, irreverent, and occasionally touching, TRANSPLANTED invites viewers back each week for the laughs, but gives them something more enduring to root for: Lovely, Mary J., and a building full of misfits discovering that sometimes the place—and the people—you never planned on choosing to become home and family.
